Over 30 albums released since his début in 1984, a huge fan base worldwide and a reputation as the voice of easy listening, Daniel has, of course, little left to prove. 'Until The Next Time' is a departure for the singer in that instead of the usual covers this is Daniel's first self-written album. And although there are still hints of his Irish country music roots this is easily Daniel's most contemporary album ever. From the big opener "Can You Feel The Love" with its lilting harmony guitar lines, through the rock and roll "My Love For You" and the easy pop of "Crush On You" to the country feel of "My Lovely Island Home", co-written with his mother Julia, the album holds together well and does not have the usual signs of a new songwriter. The melodies work well though quite often there is a lingering feeling of having heard it somewhere else. This collection of love songs is a new side to Daniel for his die hard fans and will go a long way to giving "easy listening" a better reputation than it usually enjoys.
