Daniel O'Donnell and Mary Duff have been singing professionally together now for the best part of 20 years. For much of this time Mary has toured as part of Daniel's stage show, but this is the first album they have recorded together since the 'Timeless' project 10 years ago. The fact that the album crashed into the high reaches of the UK album charts immediately upon release indicates that their rekindled musical partnership was eagerly awaited. The album has 15 tracks of easy listening, popular tunes like "Top Of The World", "The Carnival Is Over", the Connie Francis classic "My Happiness" and half a dozen well known country tunes such as The Louvin Brothers' "Are You Teasing Me", Don Williams' "You're My Best Friend", Hank Williams' "Hey Good Looking" and the title track which was originally a country hit for Buck Owens. The nearest we get to gospel material is the old hit from Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton's "Daddy Was An Old Time Preacher Man". Whilst this is a very pleasant album, for me it doesn't reach the heights of a couple of tracks that they have previously recorded, their truly inspiring version of the gospel classic "Whispering Hope" and The Browns' old country hit "I Heard The Bluebird Sing" which both feature sublime counterpoint singing. But getting back to 'Together Again', there is a nice bonus eight-track DVD included in this package.
