Darrell McFadden is yet another of those gospel artists who started singing at a very young age whilst in church and then went on to find his feet in the music industry as a member of several groups before making it thus far. Having had a number of previous releases this one 'I've Got A Right' is his first with EMI and although Darrell has over the years built up a strong fan base up and down the east coast of America he has never had the backing of a major promoter or distributor. Now he hopes to take his music to a new international level. Now as with any gifted musician or songwriter what's important is the ability to give something that's been around for a long time a new edge. There's a distinct soul/R&B sound grafted onto old school stylings. The CD kicks off with "Be Ready", presenting the Revelation warning in a passionate way, this track gets you ready for more from the start. As Bishop Darrell (as he's entitled in the credits) and the Disciples break into "I've Got A Right" the listener could easily be mistaken in thinking they had been transported back to the days and Philly soul style of the O'Jays. The album has a scattering of catchy tunes like "I Believe", "Hold On", and the gospel hand clapping "Shackles". The disc ends with a great soulful medley of a few classic hymns "O How I Love Jesus" and "Further Along".
