London-based reggae gospel singer Davel offers 10 self-composed songs. The rhythms, despite being computer generated, are okay and the girls doing the harmonies are okay too. But Davel's voice is barely adequate while the lyrics are little more than a string of "let's sing hallelujah", "Jesus is the Lord" cliches. Add to that some painful raps and some pitching problems and we have an album demonstrating that Davel has a long way to go to meet the standards of the American gospel luminaries he name checks on the end of "We Sing Hallelujah."
