David Griffiths is a 21-year-old (at the time of recording in 2005) worship leader from Bournemouth Community Church and fronts the band Bosh. The review copy of this eight-song mini-album had a definite 'home made' feel and, more worryingly, displayed a home made sound quality. David is backed by a band producing a variety of styles from a rock worship sound at the start of the album to an ambient sound towards the end: on one of these, "I Was Lost", the lead vocals are handled to good effect by two female singers, Tolu and Ola. Lead vocals on the other songs are by the often husky-voiced David Griffiths himself. Lyrics aren't strong on originality: I could sing "I want to thank you Lord" all day but there are plenty of other songs that say the same things in very similar ways. Effective use is made of the guitars and particularly keyboards. Between the rocking start and ambient finish are the two songs not written by David himself, two old hymns: a mildly rocked-up "What A Friend" - quite effective - and "Speak Lord In The Stillness", which David has given a rather ponderous new tune. Overall a fair effort that would be more effective with better production.
