Milton Keynes-based singer Dawn Remy has become a well-known name amongst the Seventh Day Aventist Church movement and has released her jazz and gospel-flavoured debut album. Remy adopts a free-flowing modern jazz approach to much of the mostly self-penned material on this release which allows the singer - who undoubtedly has a dexterous vocal range - to use her voice like an instrument. However, the constant vocal acrobatics get a bit wearing at times and songs such as the overlong "Quietness" and "All I Need Is You" would have benefited from a straighter performance to allow the undoubtedly God-focussed message to take centre stage. Remy includes an adapted version of the Blind Willie Johnson classic "Nobody's Fault But Mine" - sadly credited solely to her friend Pastor Kingsley Palmer with absolutely no mention of the poverty-stricken bluesman who made the song famous - whilst an acoustic version of the same song and a demo of "Quietness" pad out Remy's first outing as a solo artist.
