A couple of years back it was Dub War who caught the ear at Greenbelt as The Best Unsigned Band. This year it was this fine team from Belfast who managed to merge a dizzying set of influences: Lou Reed, Stone Roses, Cream and even a pinch of Celtic mysticism. Underpinning the whole turbulent brew is a strutting rhythm section that knows a thing or three about keeping an R&B groove while Paul Archer is a lead singer who, in the words of journo Colin Haper, "is a man whose charisma is so far left of centre it's off the swingometer". This tape offers three numbers (my favourite of which is the opener "Tolate Tonite") on side 'A' with acoustic versions of the same three songs on the reverse. These guys could be huge. Get in there at the beginning and send off your cheques.
