This is the latest offering from the punk band from San Diego and I was looking forward to it after one of my favourite songs from the Tooth & Nail DVD Vol 7 was “Building A Better Me”. That was three years ago so how have they progressed? I think they have in that there seems to be a lot of exploration into rockier territory, whilst keeping their punk roots. This is good because sometimes punk songs sound quite similar. Lyrically the album is quite deep, I’m still trying to wrap my head round some songs but this is not a bad thing as it makes you think. They are not afraid to be bold lyrically: “Selfish Americans” could be applied to us Brits as well as it attacks the West’s consumerism, while others die in need. “Your Tongue Is The Deadliest Of Arrows” is another song the Church needs to hear as we sadly lack in the “building up others department”. Overall, it’s worth listening to a few times and I guarantee it will grow on you.
