Every year, this particular long-in-tooth journalist is bombarded with hundreds of Christmas songs and, as many of these are either carols-by-numbers or unnecessary renditions of appalling Santa songs, I sometimes feel my head's about to explode. Having now got my Scrooge moment out of the way, I can say that this is a thoroughly charming Christmas EP by Cross Rhythms' favourite Americana act. So that even when the Nashville songsmith is singing a song as dubious as "Let It Snow" (you know the one, "Oh the weather outside is frightful/But the fire is so delightful/And since we've no place to go/Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow"), I find myself in a forgiving mood. The Neighbors are a top band and the three songs here have an infectious lilt that will sound good on the radio for a good few Christmases to come.
