From this album's intro with a snatch of "Home Of The Brave" which loses speed and descends into a discord, this is an album which makes its points with considerable impact. The Arizona-based rapper hoists his agenda to the mast on an album which is a powerful critique of the American church that, according to the prophet/emcee, has lost its calling to be salt and light in American culture. Aided by some carefully chosen guests like Jordan Copas, Davis Absolute and Illuminate, and with a killer cut, the anti-workaholism "Art Of The Enemy", which when released as a single became a Cross Rhythms radio hit, Dusty's examples of spiritual compromise in evangelicalism are well chosen. Particularly powerful is his denouncement of murder by abortion which he delivers with sadness but without a hint of the anger and Pharisee-ism which in America has encouraged some to ignore the heart-stopping facts - 3,000 American babies aborted every day - and reminds us that God's forgiveness for such grievous sin can still be found. Other sins-of-the-church are touched on in 'American Holocaust' - its materialism, for instance. But it's the lack of protest against abortion which makes up much of this album. If 'American Holocaust' sounds like an album which doesn't translate to the UK church, in truth, nearly everything here could equally apply to British evangelicalism. Here's hoping that some in UK churches who've bought into the poisonous "woman's right to choose" teachings will get to hear it. Dusty has succeeded in making his most passionate and convincing album while showing his rapping and writing skills are improving significantly.
