In the '90s, David Crowder founded the University Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. As the David Crowder Band increased in popularity and acclaim they would often find themselves away on tour. An unknown "B team" worship band would stand in and play during worship when they were away. By 2005, people were hearing about this band and they were booked for all manner of events, camps, etc as well as a residency at another church. This band is Dutton. Their original style combines singable lyrics with punchy rock tones to create an uplifting, passionate worship record. Some albums can be rather monochromatic in their approach; this is certainly not one of them. The energy of the title track contrasts brilliantly with the acoustic "Stn Yr Kngdm Mst Cm Dwn" and once again with the melodious and deeply moving "After All". With such a broad stylistic repertoire and such insightful lyrics, Dutton are sure to go far, perhaps even as far as their UBC colleagues.
