Eddie is one of the new breed of gospel leaders, along with Kirk Franklin and William Becton, who is demonstrating that there's still a huge audience for gospel with a rootsy traditional base. This album recently peaked at number four in Billboard's Gospel Chart and anyone wondering at the breathless eulogies of the publicity ("truly anointed...fantastic," gushed Tramaine Hawkins) will hear what all the fuss is about once this album is played good W loud. The choir lash into these simple paens of praise with such joyous intensity that the roof is well and truly lifted. Lead singers Bridgette Overstreet, Kerry Strong, Gayle Stokes and Charlotte Choney are all top drawer while the choir leading maestro in the white zoot suit on the cover sings credible leads on the storming opener title track and "Yet Will I Trust Him". A rollicking band steam along with the hand clapping, foot stomping action, the playing time is lavish and if you're tired of limp Kendrick-style praise, get this one and go higher.
