To have fulfilled a life's ambition is a noble thing indeed, especially when the ambition is to bring the sweet smell of worship to the throne of God. When the ambition requires the talent to do the arrangements, keyboard performance and vocals of a solo album, whilst balancing the demands of being a Methodist minister's wife and a mother, the commendation is all the more. 'Reflections' is a collection of traditional hymns that may appeal to the older members of the Methodist Church but may be fairly obscure to others, apart from the Kendrick classic "Servant King". They are played not on a church organ but a modern keyboard with a passionate vigour that will inspire some to worship. I fear, however, that the century old mission hall style might also be symptomatic of the decline of the Methodist Church. This is a trip down memory lane to an innocent bygone age beloved by some but is not likely to build a church fellowship that will survive today. Proceeds from the sales of the CD go to Macmillan Cancer Care Relief Charity.
