Reggae gospel is a particularly scarce commodity. There's Ben Okafor (who's now wisely moved on to Afro), the Channels and that's about it. So the emergence of this Manchester reggae-gospel team is to be welcomed. Considering the limitations of a low budget recording this is pretty good. Plusses are some raw and throaty vocals and some tricky rim shots from the sticksman and a nicely booming bass. It's a shame the sax is distinctly limited and the singer's difficulty with r's (pwaise the Lawd) grows a little irritating but if you're looking for gospel with an authentic rockers sound (though nearer Ladbrook Grove than Trenchtown) check out the Manchester Christian Posse.
