Reviewed by Chris Webb Equippers Revolution is the sound of the youth movement from Equippers Church, Auckland, New Zealand. This EP offers five tracks to entice an electronic dance generation into praising the creator God. The first two, "Senses" and "Promises", are driven along by powerful electronic rhythms, cascading synthesisers and powerful vocal performances encouraging and exhorting listeners to give their lives to God by reflecting on what he has done for the singers. They must have taken note of previous reviewers' comments as there is now much more substance in the lyrical content, and whilst remaining fairly simple the words are not banal or overly repetitive. Changes in pace come with the third and fourth tracks "Stay" and "Always Enough" where the foot comes off the throttle and the frenetic pace slows right down. The music remains electronic, the style contemporary but this is contemplative and thoughtful as gentle voices relate directly to God, prayers, calm, summer days reflections on the sufficiency of Jesus to the believer. "Heaven Is Here" then combines the two elements, a slow, subdued start looking to God to bring blessing then as the bass drum begins to speed up, the keyboards starts swelling and the synth, popping and bouncing, jumps in to enable the crescendo to build and fill in praise of the Saviour. A fitting climax to an enjoyable EP.
