Nottingham-based producer, DJ and radio presenter Errol Mundle has previously released two CDs of reggae gospel with his ELM Project. But here he puts his own name to a 15 track set of what he terms "pure gospel praise and worship". With the ELM Worship Singers Errol has drafted in some of the best voices on the UK gospel scene to deliver his anthemic and soul-stirring songs (all tracks on this album are written by the man himself). So we have LCGC's Tracey Campbell, R&B diva Carla Hayles, Nottingham-based rapper Prodigal Son and newcomer Emma Ojapa all contributing their talents. It's a very different sound from the two previous albums, but two years of tragedy and soul-searching have helped Mundle rediscover his passion for God and that is obvious in the lyrics and the delivery of these songs. With some great grooves, taking in trad gospel, hip-hop, R&B and retro soul and a top rate production, this album, from the opening "Your Excellent Name" through to "Testimony Time", is an inspiring and uplifting listen. The theme of struggling through the storms and trials of life, and the overwhelming grace of God in it all is evident on every track. 'Overcomer' is a great advert for British gospel music and a powerful testimony to the work of God in one man's life.
