Evan Silva was heavily involved in the mainstream music scene in NZ and OZ back in the '60s and early 70s before his conversion to Christ in 1973. A wealth of musical experience is ingrained in the grooves of this CD. This is a mixture of cool jazz, soul, pop and blues - very hard to categorise! It's also a warm album recorded the old-fashioned way with real musicians playing real instru­ments! I know, how quaint eh? Another thing though - it's brilliant. There's plen­ty of jazzy piano and cool sax, plenty of soulful vocalising and lots to get excit­ed about. You get the jazz rock groove of "Walkin' In The Light" and the slow blues of "Who Is Against You" with guitar and sax adding plenty of mood. "Cool Water" is a bit Chris Rea whilst "Aim No Two Ways" reminded me a little of Steely Dan. We're back to blues again with "Always Around" but I wouldn't want you to get the impression that this is in any way a sad record! These blues are filled with optimism and hope, and throughout the album the lyrics are a direct testimony to the spiritual journey and deliverance that Evan's experienced. From the pure pop of "I Say Father" to the walking blue of "Keepin' The Faith Alive", this album exudes class and life changing faith. If you're after adult music with something to say, this is pure pleasure!
