At times listening to Christian contemporary music can be comparable to searching through the proverbial mountain of coal, seemingly endless deluge of worthy-but-dull musionaries towering heavenward. Yet every once in a while a glimmer of hope can be seen from the depths and so renews vigour - this recording represents such a restoration. A five-track enhanced CD (containing the New Testament and song lyrics), this very natural collection is a return to roots, making praise and worship seem worthy of the Father again. Meditative and reflective is the overall mood as Ortega et al seem to bare their souls with out stealing the limelight. Music may be the medium but God is most definitely the focus. Indeed, on first listening the title track was an arresting hand on my heart, causing me to stop, listen and pray. Neither too contrived nor compromised, this set seems to bear an integrity so often lacking elsewhere that it inexorably gathers the listener to Jesus, without pomp or preference. Near perfect, this is not merely a collection of songs, but a genuinely moving experience.
