Quite possibly the veteran singer/songwriter's finest album, Fernando has a way of communicating spiritual insight in simple yet profound couplets with his regular producer John Andrew Schreiner (the man behind that undiscovered Christian classic of years back, "Emily's Eyes") while the choice of musos, like Nickel Creek's mandolin maestro Chris Thile and bassman Leland Sklar, and percussionist Michito Sanchez, is from the top drawer. Whether he's plucking songs from ancient hymnals, like "Come Ye Sinners Poor And Needy", a moving duet with Amy Grant, or penning new classics like "Light Of heaven" and "Storm" the effect is always of luminous faith in God communicated with deft musicianship. Fernando is a treasure.
