Flitwick Baptist Church, Bedfordshire, and six "youths" have grouped together in order to produce an album of original material in aid of the Open Doors charity, which helps persecuted Christians across the globe. Although credited as a joint effort, the two youth leaders, Ben Scott (chief songwriter) and Chris Malone (producer) are clearly the driving force behind the record. "The Deep" opens the disc on a promising note - Malone's smooth keyboards create a rich wave of ambience for Ellie Goulding-sound-alike Lara Adams' vocals to surf on, continuing into the title track, where Taylor Adams takes over the lead singer role over a more driving backing. The standard slips a little with "The Feast", which feels shallow in comparison to the other tracks, particularly "Before You", whose lyrics are more inspiring - "My sin, it bleeds out/Pouring down from your brow." The musicianship is overall decent and the vocals are relaxing, if rather weak (perhaps better use of harmonies would strengthen the melodies), and all in all 'The Victory' presents real talent of which I'm looking forward to hearing more.
