Formed by one-time Split Level man Del Currie, Fono were originally UK-based before relocating to the US after the success of their 'Goes Around Comes Around' album. Since then they've had some trials including in 2003 their Californian studio being burnt to the ground, losing equipment and master tapes. For most this would have dictated the end however Fono started rebuilding their studio and recording again. Which brings us to this seven-track CD. It is a good, solid mini-album, but in truth doesn't really stand out. Del Currie's soaring vocals are comparable to that of Bono of U2 (see "Sunlight Silence"), and the overall sound is tight, with lashings of layered guitars though the drumming is slightly tinny at times. The anthemic "It's The Way That You Use It" has its moments as well as the slightly deeper feeling "Falling Man". However it seems there is something missing. The vocals could do with having a touch more prominence. Overall, okay without being much more.
