Fortunate Sons are a five-piece rock band from central Scotland who've been playing together for two years, mostly in church settings but they've ventured into Shotts Prison (for a gig!) and played at Impact Festival 1995. This 4-song demo is worth a listen. The side two opener and probably loudest track is "Summer" which reminds me of Keith Thompson's early material with that other band called Third Day. Call me ignorant of Scottish music, but the lead guitar tone reminds me of Taggart! The other songs have a folk rock feel a la pre '95/'96 Eden Burning and some of the vocals sound like The Choir without the eclectic lyrics - then again "I can tell by the sky it's October" - I can't, but then maybe I need to retake that Commercial Pilot Meterology exam! The recording quality is so so but that's forgivable on a low budget release. It would be good to have the bvs and bass up in the mix next time lads -keep at it and send us any new material you produce.
