Not to be confused with the Yorks based band, Freedom, this team are a pop duo working out of the North West -singer/songwriter/keyboardist Scott Fellows, a vocal cross between Van the Man and Chris Rea; and guitarist Alan Mellor. Live, they played a mixture of secular covers (Simply Red, etc) as well as their own material but 'Follow Me' is all self written and gives a fair indication of their influences - not least the presets on the drum machine. The tracks are generally too busy for my liking - I'm definitely a fan of the "less is more" school of production. But there are some good touches - the brass stabs on "Free At Last", the guitar on "What Kind Of Love", the Latin feel of "Short Prayer Away", the title track and, of course, the "controversial tongue-in-cheek "Four X". All in all worth a listen and definitely worth signing up for a gig near you.
