As a long-time admirer of Fresh Claim's motivation and goals, consistently worked out via their own Plankton Records, it was an attractive proposition to review their contribution to the alternative worship parade. This presentation is based on the traditional Anglican Communion Service and preserves a sense of awe and solemnity even when the music's fast-paced rock. Other music styles are incorporated, some acoustic stuff and rhythmic Latin touches as on "Peruvian Gloria" (who was she?) also a reggae-ish version of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". Older material like the beautiful "O Sacred Head" is handled respectfully but I was not really taken with the pumped up arrangements of "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Crown Him With Many Crowns". I've heard various attempts to turn the latter into a rock anthem. In theory it should work but it never does. A good, honest attempt to be entertaining and helpful and well worth a listen.
