The Gaithers merrily skip across the genres with their close harmonies and general easy listening style. The songs that came over best were those closer to some sort of country rock sound as on “Heartbreak Ridge And New Hope Road” and indeed the title track. Least convincing was a brief (just as well) foray into some kind of easy swing “Not Gonna Worry” which brought memories of “Sing Something Simple” back with a shudder. The skipping from style to style did keep interest up as I asked myself “Whatever is coming next? Nu metal?!” Err no. However, apart from the surprise factor the overall thing felt a bit like a scrapbook of odds and ends. So what are we left with? Oh yes, the singing that really is the thing that ought to be to the fore as it is clearly what they do best like on their accapella rendition of “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go”.
