I have come to realise that the faithful Cross Rhythms scribe who reviewed Ginny's debut 'Without Condition' didn't quite hit the button with his review - that delightful album did, after all, contain "I Want To Be Moved", a huge Cross Rhythms radio hit and one of the best Christian pop tracks of the last decade. So I'd better be extra careful with this one, I thought. And guess what? After two or three plays I'm convinced 'Something More' is one of the most intelligently written, subtly produced (take a bow Monroe Jones and programmer Greg Herrington) and hauntingly sung collections ever to emerge from the Nashville CCM hit machine. Crammed full of telling imagery ("Building walls no one could ever climb/Til somebody showed me/My fortress was a cage" - "I Know Someone", or the billowing "Run To You" with its insight "I thought that inner peace would come from trusting who I am/But it's really about trusting who I know.") But it's not simply exceptional lyric writing which so eloquently and honestly pinpoints the human condition and the relentless love of the Hound Of Heaven. Listen to that near acapella vocal on "All I Want To Do". Have you ever heard a voice that so poignantly conveys the broken spirit caught in the light of a tender love? If you've yet to hear the monumental talent of this blind singer/songwriter, you need to investigate right away.
