This new CD contains the very last recordings the country and pop crooner made plus as a nice bonus a CD of many of his biggest ever hits. Longtime bluegrass banjo player Carl Jackson is responsible for "Adios", a labour of love from someone who performed with him for many years and counted him as a dear friend. In the liner notes you can read at length how difficult it was to get Glen to be recorded in his declining state, but you would never know it from listening to his strong voice. What does strike me from listening to 'Adios' is that it's the most country album I can recollect hearing from him since 'Big Bluegrass Special'. Perhaps hardly surprising with Carl Jackson pulling the strings! Carl's "Arkansas Farmboy" is arguably the most country effort Glen ever recorded, a very moving tribute to Carl written by his longtime musical associate and friend. Such country classics as "Funny How Time Slips Away", where he is joined by the writer Willie Nelson, the George Jones classic "She Thinks I Still Care" and Johnny Cash's great "A Thing Called Love" are all given great workouts as is Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice It's All Right" which apparently Glen had sung for years on stage but before never recorded. The title track is particularly moving.
