There are two big pushes currently gaining momentum in the praise and worship world. One is to let the Americans learn the delights of the of March for Jesus. The other is to gain for Graham Kendrick in the USA the same kind of evangelical mass recognition he now enjoys in the UK. So hence this album, recorded by America's praise-and-worship mammoth Integrity/Hosanna Music. Divided into two sections, the nine 'Songs Of Preparation' are intended to "help unite participants and spiritually prepare hearts for the Public Praise event". Admirers of Graham's unique song writing gift will know exactly what to expect, fulsomely tuneful songs of praise and devotion, while producer Don Moen has put together one of those sweet and harmonious choruses to carry a lot of the vocal chores and cut down on the demands put on the weakest link on a Kendrick album - the songwriter's adenoidal and limited voice. An interesting variation is a move into black gospel choir sound with "Cross Every Border". Side two offers 'Songs Of Proclamation' and the jauntier opuses, spiced up with one or two much loved hymns like "All Hail The Power" and "Crown Him With Many Crowns" have all the triumphant stridency to impact the streets with lyrics which boldly declare the victory of Christ. And "Psalm 24:7 Proclamation" and "Say Yes" with their powerhouse drumming are almost funky and definitely spirit-stirring. One of the better Kendrick albums.

Out for quite a while now, this is presumably an effort by Richard to establish his ministry beyond his work with children for which he is best known. Unfortunately, the choice of material is a tad too hackneyed - yep, I know that was the concept - while the whole thing, though exuding an easy going joy, hardly contributes anything knew to an overcrowded album market.
