It has to be said this is an exhausting listening experience, every song is, in the eccentric tradition of gospel choirs, stretched out to mega-length so that this CD contains almost 70 minutes of music. But there's no denying it, this is a red hot, soulfully exuberant experience of gospel and it sets my spine tingling every time one of those leather-lunged lead singers begins to whoop and wail over the furiously riffing choir. Low on subtlety but high, high, high on atmosphere.
