I always have a problem when asked to comment on albums of hymns, as over the years so many artists have recorded hymn albums (not always for the most spiritual of reasons) that boredom is always a danger. So it is a real pleasure to report that this is a fine release. Guy had been an integral part of Bill Gaither's music group and very much in the Southern gospel genre. Here though he takes a more country gospel approach. There is very tasteful and often acoustic backing by some of country music's standout musicians as Guy runs through such classics as "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms", "Count Your Blessings", "Down At The Cross" and "He Hideth My Soul". A particular standout is "Does Jesus Care", performed as a duet with George Beverley Shea now over 100 years old! The production by Pete Greene is outstanding and this really is as good a set of country-arranged hymns as you're likely to hear.
