Here is a young band worth looking out for. I Am hail from the Faroe Islands and seem to specialise in knocking out catchy rock songs with a strong evangelistic content. Here and there the production sounds a little bit 1980s but I don't mean that as a put down... I genuinely enjoyed this CD and was impressed with the quality of songs like the opening "Everything, Together", an excellent ballad, and "Man On The Moon" (not the REM song of the same name). Most of the album is made up of AOR with a couple of tracks which have a more contemporary indie sound and there's even a disco closer in the shape of "Last Night 99", so there's almost something for everyone on 'Cast'. If I had to choose one band to compare I Am, with I'd plump for Scotland's own Nervous Passenger with Birgir Sigurousson's lead vocals sounding uncannily like Neil Alton. The overall quality of this self-financed project also bears comparison with the output from Room 3 Records. I look forward to seeing what I Am do in the future.
