Ignite open this 7-track EP with the solid power metal riffs of "It", built on unison bass and guitar double tracking. It's impressive for its tight quality and simple but effective groove. Indeed, they prove themselves to be very much a riff-based outfit with a much more straight metal sound than some of their label-mates. Not that that's a bad thing, we can't all be thrashheads, and Ignite are a competent metal trio, guitarist Peter Taycox is at his best with his bluesy solo on "Tonight" and even the horribly cliched chime bell intro to "Spit" doesn't spoil things too much. The EP contains two live tracks, the horror-tinged "Nightmares" and "The Cracked Mirror", which also appears in its studio form. Comparisons could be drawn to another classic power trio, namely Leviticus.
