Indrek Patte may not be a name that is familiar to you, but he has been making music in his native Estonia since the 1970s. He is also the frontman for a Led Zeppelin tribute band, which may give you an idea of his vocal talent. However, the singer and multi-instrumentalist here displays his love of prog rock. Holding his chief influences up for all to see (Yes, Genesis, Neil Morse, Marillion), Patte nevertheless manages to imbue a modern twist into the classic styles on display, along with some unexpected folk elements. There is also bold spiritual declaration in the lyrics, which helps deflect some of the questions over originality and one cannot doubt the competence of the musicians playing these complex arrangements. Patte is joined by 10 different musicians throughout the album all whom are able to handle the myriad time, key and stylistic changes with ease. "Resurrection" provides a strong opening while "The Journey" and "Shine" are also highlights. There are one or two snags, however. The poor mix means that the vocals are often buried and indecipherable. But overall, leaving aside the discordant jazz influences of "One Way" and the twee "Learn To Live", there is plenty here to keep you listening.
