Writing in a similarly intellectual mode as CS Lewis or GK Chesterton, and as a contemporary of those great spiritual writers, The Invading Gospel is loosely autobiographical and deeply honest about Jack Clemo's spiritual journey through paganism, mysticism and eroticism. Describing the state of the church in the pre-war years and bemoaning its evangelical weakness, The Invading Gospel reveals a rare intellect able to weave theological understanding with humble transparency.
