'Meant To Fly' is an easy listening-cum-pop album originally released in 2007. With numerous female CCM talents in the CD racks, Australia's Jade Ambrose falls short of their benchmark. Saying that, her album gets progressively stronger, as it moves from the upbeat but vocally weak "Shine" to "Meant to Fly", in which Ambrose's harmonies and the clean guitar tone saves an otherwise average song. The album slows its pace with "More", a stirring pop ballad that could benefit from a greater build up to the bridge and some emotive strings. When it comes to "If I Have Not Loved", unfortunately the album falls headlong into the genre of Disney-style corn and with that the beautiful lyrics, based on 1 Corinthians 13, lose their impact. Jade's vocals are strongest on "Who I Am", which begins with some country guitar licks. On other songs Jade's classically trained voice simple doesn't go with the reverb-heavy pop drums and electric guitars. But on this track, Jade's voice delivers more punch. Okay in parts, but by no means a standout album.
