'Found' is the first EP from a Canadian singer/songwriter. On each of the five tracks, Favron's rough-edged vocals are accompanied simply by acoustic guitar, his style somewhat recalling REM as he skilfully uses his songs to tell a story. "I Have Seen A Light" with its nicely ringing acoustic guitar and simple percussion tells of meeting other Christians whose lives shine with confidence in Christ. In contrast, the recording of "Place Between The Trees" doesn't come off so well; the tambourine accompaniment falls flat rather than ringing out, and the sound clips at the end of the track. However, the reverb drenched sound quality gives this lovely song a live feel, and Favron's vocals have a wonderful growl to them, his voice becoming passionate towards the end as he sings "I want to know more." "Gone Back" is an interesting track, a folk ballad about a man who disappeared mysteriously, returning to the woman he'd left behind and her grief and reaction to his return. I felt this EP was let down by its lack of variation in sound and style, and in places by poor production, but Favron has a good voice, lyrical originality and a talent for telling a story well in song all which bode well for the future.
