Well known worship leader from Hull, Jarrod Cooper has worked on a host of recordings, including five of his own. Best known as composer of worship classic “King Of Kings, Majesty”, Jarrod also recently authored the book Glory In The Church. He appears here with a fresh batch of self-penned songs, including a couple of upbeat praise songs and - in the title track - a powerful prayer anthem. A number of other tunes appear in the gentle, adorational style - floating along on a simple groove, with Cooper's fine, slick vocals washing tenderly over one's soul. Further thoughtful ballads explore death and the life beyond, words of Martin Luther King and relationships (a love song for Vicky). The programming - all finely created by Cooper - does sounds a bit “plastic” here and there and one wonders if more in the way of “real” instruments would have added richer textures. Overall though, these non-cliched compositions - somewhat in the vein of David Evans' artful 'Quickening', though not as soulful - makes for an enterprising and creative output.
