This album is a compilation of material originally released on the South African-born, UK-based singing minister's first two albums from 1994 and 1996. I found it to contain some gentle, beautiful CCM with a sound somewhere between Matt Redman and the old Michael W Smith, before he started to rock. Some of these songs are directed towards God, others are clearly performance pieces. "Virginia" is a personal song about the death of a loved one. But there is a hint that at least one of the songs was recorded as part of live worship when we hear some spontaneous corporate singing at the end, "The Angels Cry Glory". Standouts for me were the slightly aggressive "Mighty Warrior" and the poetic imagery of "Song Of The Bow". This is all good stuff worth revisiting.
