The TV talent searches that have become a prime way for record companies to discover new and fresh singing talent can become something of a poison chalice if drunk deep by young hopefuls expecting instant stardom. And while I'm on the subject of American Idol finalist Jasmine Murray, it might also be suggested that the undeniable beauty of Ms Murray (she was once placed in the Top 10 Miss America pageant) might encourage more jaundiced critics to view Jasmine primarily as a model whose singing talents are far less attractive than her appearance. In fact, Jasmine is an exceptional singer with both strident soul power and considerable interpretative skills while the songs she's co-written here with many of Nashville's tried-and-tested old hands are well above average. Her radio hit title track, co-written with Tony Wood and Jeff Pardo, is a mid-tempo delight, the deft production perfectly bringing out the faith building affirmation "I wanna be fearless/Because I believe you're with me now." For me it's the EDM opener "No Other Love" with an extremely catchy hook which is a standout while throughout the keys and programming of talents like Colby Wedgeworth and others give the pop funk and devotional ballads just the right pop sheen.
