Jeff will probably be pleased that his album proves to be a difficult one to categorise. Edgy, poppy, rocky, acoustic and at times alternative, he has melted all of these elements together under the supervision of experienced producer Brent Milligan and a variety of Nashville sessioners. The result is more solid and interesting than immediately compelling. More a grower than a grabber. The title tune introduced Jeff to the world on the 'Mindy's Revenge' compilation and contained a little of the edge which is more fully explored across the album. "Shine On" and "Live To Tell" both have an alternative rock feel in their presentation but that's only one part of this album. At one end, 'Train Of Thought" has none of those vibey choruses whereas "No Need To Be Lonely" and "Longing" are more acoustic in nature. Although this is all well and good and he's done well to he included on the 'Mindy's Revenge' compilation, I am left thinking that in order to push through the crowd of wannabes. Jeff is going to have to produce something that little bit more special than this competent, well produced good album.
