You read all about Joanna Barratt in CR56 and this CD is (to quote Alex Robertson, who did the arranging) "a personal selection of some of the most enduring worship songs of the last few decades." Looking at the track list, I can't disagree: among the composers represented, Noel and Tricia Richards, Chris Bowater, Marty Nystrom, Brian Doerksen, Darlene Zschech, John Wimber and Geoff Bullock. The tempo is slow and worshipful throughout, with Joanna's husband Maurice on bass, veteran axeman Norman Barratt (no relation) on electric guitar and the Alex Robertson String Ensemble - 20 violin and viola overdubs, and Alex recorded them all individually! Joanna's singing is excellent as usual and whilst some may quibble at the choice and age of the material and say that it's all been done before, I don't think that it's been done quite this well for some time.
