Very traditional, rootsy country this, owing much to the old-timey, mountain music variety. Husband and wife duo Stecher And Brislin have made a speciality of this style, seeking out old songs and writing totally convincing and compatible new material. This is their fourth album of similar music, featuring their skills on banjo and guitar, embellishing smooth vocal duetting. Several other fine musicians contribute to the finely polished acoustic sound and Larry Hanks' strong bass voice is added on "Long Time Travelling", the old Primitive Baptist hymn, and "We Shall Meet Someday", a wonderful old gospel song from The Stanley Brothers. "Short Life Of Trouble" and "No Heaven On The County Road" are more highlights and there's even a medley of traditional Scottish hornpipes. Classy, timeless music, beautifully performed and totally satisfying.
