Like the first volume, the next instalment in the 'Control' series of EPs sees Amarillo, Texas-based singer/songwriter and producer Joel Vaughn offer up five highly polished songs that showcase the man's perfect pop voice and a keen nose for radio friendly fodder. However, unlike its predecessor, this particular collection sees Vaughn choose to be more specific about matters of faith with God getting direct mentions (as opposed to just being hinted at as per volume one) with tracks like the stirring opener "Unreserved" unequivocally communicating the singer's desire to offer up a costly sacrifice to the Lord. Elsewhere, the likes of the EDM-based "More Than Good Enough" and the acoustic "I Look To You" hone in on the finer points of having a relationship with Jesus before the closing song of sacrifice "I Give It All Back" brings things full circle. Arguably, the material found on this EP isn't terribly unique - not helped by the funk-tinged "Something New" sounding a bit like a certain Bruno Mars megahit - but there is enough skill, passion and quality on offer to make this another impressive outing by the multifaceted Mr Vaughn.
