One of four albums by the singer/guitarist offering Catholic meditative music. 'Spirit Pathways' has the subhead 'Instrumental Series' added to the sleeve though, like others in the series, has occasional Gregorian chant-style choruses intoning behind the flutes and violins as John does more of those by now predictable classical progressions on his trusty guitar. Overall, 'Spirit Pathways', like the other three albums, exudes a peaceful calm no doubt John Michael intended to create. But the sheer languid predictability of much of the music on this album makes the news that the next Talbot project is a back-to-his-roots West Coast rock one very welcome.
