Tyscot are one of the US labels that fledgling black gospel distributors Travail have secured the rights to. Elder John P. Kee is one is one the label's foremost artists and an established name in the States. This album is in the nature of a gospel "Band Aid" project with the focus this time on the ravages caused by the Aids virus. John, who is something of a keyboard wizard, plays all the instruments bar the odd sax solo himself. Guests read rather like an A-Z of contemporary gospel and include Daryl Coley, Commissioned, Yolanda Adams, a children's' choir and numerous others. Backing is slick jazz-funk and the numerous guests do their stuff. John himself has an impressive voice, but the project lacks something in the writing department to my ears - and I can't help finding the inclusion of children's voices on a track like "Save The Children" a bit cloying. Still, aficionados will have fun spotting the star voices.
