Indiana-based singer/songwriter John Tibbs regards this eight-track mini-album as his best work to date and he may have a point. Not counting the three living room-recorded alternate versions tagged onto the end of this release, the five main songs here represent a surprisingly wide range of styles with the Southern rock song of God's faithfulness "Won't Let Me Go" sitting comfortably next to the pounding, more anthemic title track - all benefitting from a great Americana vocal from Tibbs and the sizeable production chops of Ben Shive (Rend Collective, Ellie Holcomb). Elsewhere, Tibbs clearly has one eye on the mainstream charts with the well-crafted "Midwest Magic" - a country/pop love song that ticks all the right boxes - whilst the stripped back cowboy ballad "Shots Were Fired" shows that this artist is just as able to pull off a powerful performance with only an acoustic guitar as he is with a full band. The stirring "Shepherd" returns to the theme of God's faithfulness with a guest appearance from Sandra McCracken on harmonies to round off a fine piece of work from the talented Mr Tibbs.
