A worship album with a difference. Canadian singer/songwriter Johnny Markin strikes the right note with a slab of acoustic sounds and a raw yet delicate, rootsy feel. His guitar playing is something else on the sensitively rendered snippet of "When I Survey" and again on a reworked "On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand". It's apparent that Johnny's sensitive songwriting has taken off since the early days; the worshipful "1 Will Bow Down At Your Feet" combines the simplicity of a guitar, an African djiembe drum and some lender backing vocals. The whole album can be summed up in one word - intimate. There's no pretence, no over-production and no conveyor belt tunes that so many worship albums are guilty of mass-producing. The delicate "Make My Heart Your Home", which wouldn't be out of place in a church meeting, is a prayer that simply invites Jesus to live in me. I love the honesty and reverence in all of this. It couldn't be simpler.
