Perhaps better known as the lead singer of rock bands such as The Smoking Popes and Duvall, Chicago-based singer/songwriter Josh Caterer released this solo acoustic-based festive EP last year. First up are the tastefully sleigh bell-adorned title track and the catchy "The Baby From Bethlehem" - both of which promote the Christ in Christmas and showcase Caterer's distinctive vocals as well as his ability to turn out a truly infectious slice of leftfield pop. Caterer continues in the Christmas vein with a considerably reworked but nonetheless successful version of the carol "Hark The Herald Angels Sing" before stepping out of Christmas with the tongue-in-cheek "Austin Bound" and "Conroy The Gingerbread Boy" - a quality kids' song if ever there was one - to round off what is an intriguing little release from this talented artist.
