The former Dum Dum has only managed to pursue a sporadic solo career after the end of his band and this is only his second EP in nearly a decade. Funded by his fans and featuring five new songs, this is a step up from 'The End Of Fear' and proves that even artists who have some mainstream success struggle with the economic realities of making music. One thing is for sure, Josh hasn't lost the knack for creating compelling, sharp, pop rock with edgy guitars and wailing vocals. These are his thoughts on modern life, culture and relationships. From the opening guitar grit (courtesy of Quench man Mark Hamilton) on "High School Soldier" through the frenetic "Pop Idol" to the powerful "Concrete Moon", Doyle is on top form. Like one of the songs on here says, he's been "Waiting For The Payoff" for some time and on the strength of these songs, it's definitely time Josh, now living in Nashville, got a break!

Josh Doyle's new EP "Values & Virtues," is definitely worth the buy. It definitely captures your ear from the first note, and by the time you get to "Concrete Moon" you just can't wait to listen again. On top of this, I've had the pleasure of seeing his live show and feel that he is one of the most underrated performers around. From speaking with him, watching him on stage, and hearing his solo albums you can tell right away that his music is simply a part of him. It runs through his veins. I'd advise purchasing Values and Virtues as well as his previous EP, The End Of Fear. Both will speak to you.
