Drawing comparisons with Jennifer Knapp, Kendall Payne and Sarah Mclachlan, this debut from an American singer/songwriter fits nicely into the acoustic pop/rock territory. Joy passionately expresses herself in honest conversations with her God as the album title suggests. Joy has quite a testimony of rebellion and redemption that I leave you the reader to discover. To cut a long story short she went to see Mel Gibson's The Passion Of The Christ which challenged her life and these are the passionate outpourings that are the result. The styles are varied with more laid back ones and there are more up tempo rockier ones, particularly the first single "Holding On To Me" which is quite a good song. I personally found that some songs blurred into one another but no one could deny the quality of Joy's vocals or the slick production values. There are actually 14 songs on the album clocking in at just over an hour so its good value for money. I am sure that we will be hearing lots more from Ms Whitlock.
